CASE STUDY

When I finally admitted to myself that the day had come to get new windows fitted at home I don't think I appreciated just how difficult the decision would be. It was something that had to be done and the windows I had were certainly past their best to say the least. But new windows are such an investment that I didn't really know where to start for the best. I trawled the Yellow Pages and spoke to a few friends about it and whittled down my enormous list to a few local companies.Simple I thought, but the fun had only just started.

I began to make preliminary enquiries and arranged for a few reps to come to my home, show me what they had to offer and measure my windows with the aim of preparing a quote. The first arrived and whilst being very nice didn't seem particularly knowledgeable about the windows he was selling - "why was that?" I asked myself. I later found out it was because he was just buying them in from an external supplier - so off he went and prepared the quote which, when it arrived, was really very cheap but somehow left me cold - why was it so cheap, were the windows going to fall out of their frames the week after they were fitted? The next to come round was probably the worst - pushy is an understatement - he really made me feel uncomfortable in my own home! I almost felt obliged to sign there and then just to get rid of him.

So, along comes number three. Being highly conversant in "window speak" by this point I was not only armed with a barrage of questions about the glass, the frames and the sills but also hardened to the persuasive sales pitch I was expecting to have to sit through. To my surprise when the rep from Capital Windows arrived I couldn't have been more wrong. He had a look round the house and put across all the options I had available to me in a simple, no-nonsense way. What really made it though was when he invited me to take a look around the factory and showroom so he could go through the process with me and show me what fitted examples actually looked like. Therefore, the following Saturday I popped by and had a guided tour of the factory and unbeknown to me at the time even met the guys that would be making my windows!

I could see that the people in the factory were taking a real pride in their work and this coupled with Capital Windows' 10 year guarantee really instilled the confidence which led me to place my order. I mean, why not? Their prices were competitive, the rep had been so knowledgeable and helpful even when I kept ringing him to ask him silly questions and above alI I knew that I wasn't just a contribution to some rep's commission - they really gave serious thought to what would suit my house best. The best was yet to come though - after only waiting a few weeks it was D Day, or W Day I suppose. Along came the fitters in the morning and when I arrived home in the evening half the job was finished. By the next day they had completed the fittings with the minimum of fuss and bother, even though they had to complete building work for my new back door. Goodness knows how they managed to complete the job with very little damage, I was expecting to have to redecorate but not even that.

Capital Windows really was an excellent choice in retrospect and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone that thinks they may need new windows.
